Gender gap in FP7 narrows

The involvement of women in Framework 7 research programmes increased in 2011 compared with each of the previous four years, according to the fifth Framework 7 monitoring report published by the European Commission. The report, which uses data from the Framework Programme monitoring system Sesam, shows that by the end of 2011, 26 per cent of the scientific contacts for projects were women, compared with just 20 per cent at the end of 2010.
