Future participation of Israel in European research programmes is uncertain because the country is struggling to pay its participation fee for Horizon 2020, reports the online newspaper Ynetnews.
The Israeli government is yet to approve the payment of the NIS700 million (€140 million), which would allow national researchers to apply for funding under Horizon 2020, according to Ynetnews. EU officials are said to have urged the country to clarify “as soon as possible” whether it intends to participate in the research programme, beginning in 2014.
