European Parliament committee approves Horizon 2020 plan

The European Parliament’s committee for Industry, Research and Energy (Itre) has voted in favour of several proposals for the Horizon 2020 research programme developed by its members.

The committee’s near-unanimous support on 28 November for a set of proposals drawn up by its members gives the Parliament “a clear, strong and united position for its negotiations with the Council”, said Teresa Riera Madurell, the Spanish socio-democrat MEP who drafted one of the proposal reports. The proposal will have to be adopted by the whole Parliament, before going to the European Council for further negotiation.
