Geoghegan-Quinn in pledge to research poverty-related disease

The EU commissioner for research, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, has said she will push for €1 billion from the Horizon 2020 research budget to be allocated to clinical trials for poverty-related diseases in Africa. Speaking in Cape Town on 5 November, she pledged the funds for the second phase of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership to begin in 2014.
