German institute promises to work harder after losing excellence funding

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology has made great leaps forward in getting funding but needs to work on the excellence of its research, the organisation’s annual meeting has heard.

The institute, which was launched in 2009, has received more than €300 million in extra income from private sources and donations in the past year, the meeting was told on 10 November.
