Hearing voices

National politics in Europe can be anything but fun, in these times of Eurozone rescues and budget cuts. But the German government has hit upon a new way of motivating its policymakers by launching the Bundestagschor, a choir for ministers and department staff. It is well known that singing in a group relieves stress and strengthens team relations. But one unnamed minister adds that you learn more practical lessons, too. “First things first—breathe carefully and without panic,” the minister says. That should come in handy when announcing the Council of Ministers’ budget deal.
