Commission refocuses digital agenda

The European Commission has adopted a “to-do list” of seven digital priorities it plans to tackle in 2013-2014 with the aim of boosting the European economy.

Neelie Kroes, European commissioner for digital agenda, introduced the priorities in a speech yesterday (18 December). She pointed out that “the digital economy is growing seven times faster than the rest of the economy” and said: “My top priorities are to increase broadband investment and to maximise the digital sector’s contribution to Europe’s recovery.”
