Germany joins Square Kilometre Array Organisation

Germany has become the tenth member of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Organisation, which is planning the construction of the world’s largest radio telescope, in the southern hemisphere.

“Germany has an excellent track record not only in radio astronomy but also in the management and delivery of science megaprojects,” said John Womersley, chair of the SKA Organisation’s board of directors. “This expertise will be of great benefit to the SKA project as we move towards the construction phase of this inspirational telescope”, he added.
