Horizon 2020 risks fragmenting research, says Science Europe

Science Europe, an association of national research organisations and funders, has voiced its concerns that the Horizon 2020 programme may suffer from duplication and fragmentation as a result of its three-pillar structure.

In a position statement published on 14 December, Science Europe gives its overall support for the Horizon 2020 proposal but says there is a risk that the programme will lack coherence. The lobby group argues attention must therefore be given to the relationships between different elements, both in policy and implementation, to ensure a cohesive structure.
