Romania says it will quadruple research spending

Romania has announced its intention to increase national research spending to 2 per cent of its GDP by 2020, the website Romania-insider.com has reported.

The figure is in line with the Europe 2020 strategy for improving Europe’s innovation performance, set out by the European Commission. However, it is more than four times the country’s current level of spending (0.48 per cent of GDP in 2011), the article reports.
