Commission urges action on long-term energy planning

The development of renewable energy policy needs to start now if Europe is to be prepared for the time after 2020, policy makers have said.

During a conference on long-term energy policy, commission staffers said that planning for long-term alternative energy use and technology development needs to be started now. The demands were made during a panel discussion with energy commissioner Günther Oettinger and Anni Podimata, a vice-president of the European Parliament.
