Education commissioner defends EIT budget hike

Education commissioner Androulla Vassiliou said the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) deserves a funding boost, Euractiv reports.

In November last year, the European Commission proposed to raise the Budapest-based institute’s budget from €309 million in 2008-13 to €3.2 billion in 2014-20, despite criticisms of the young institute’s track record.
