ESA names fifth ISS vehicle after Belgian scientist

The European Space Agency named its fifth Automated Transfer Vehicle after Belgian scientist Georges Lemaître, father of the Big Bang theory.

Since 2008, an ATV delivers about 6 tonnes of supplies to the International Space Station every year and a half. It remains attached to the station for up to six months before re-entering the atmosphere and deliberately burning up together with several tonnes of station waste.
