EU renewables target on track, says study

The EU is likely to meet its target of deriving 20 per cent of its electricity from renewable energy sources in 2020, according to a report published by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre on 7 February.

Member states plan to reach an overall share of 20.7 per cent by 2020 across the EU, up from 11.6 per cent in 2010, says the report, “Technical Assessment of the Renewable Energy Action Plans”.
