Italian salary controversy to be solved through additional post

Domenico Giardini, the head of a prestigious Italian research institute, says he might stay in his job if funding can be found to supplement his income, ScienceInsider reports.

Giardini, the head of Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), said in December last year that he would resign from his post, as he considered his salary too low. He also said that he was unable to agree with his previous institution, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, on ways to continue working for them alongside his INGV role.
