LHC moves beam energy up a notch

The Large Hadron Collider will increase its beam energy to 4 TeV in 2012, Europe’s particle physics laboratory Cern announced.

This is 0.5 TeV higher than in 2010 and 2011, and will allow the LHC physics experiments to gather more data.
