Each day of the EU patent negotiation stalemate costs European businesses €425,000, claims Eurochambres, which represents chambers of commerce across the EU. A unitary patent agreement has been delayed by a fight between France, Germany and the UK, who all want to host the patent court’s central division. Eurochambres estimates that the European economy lost €31 million between the Council of Ministers’ last discussion of patents on 10 December 2011 and its most recent deliberations on 20 February.
