A few years ago, research partner B took part in a project funded by Framework 6. After the project was completed, auditors said some costs that B had claimed for reimbursement were not eligible for EU funding. The European Commission asked B to pay back €4,200.
However, partner B and the German company that coordinated the project believed that the costs that were found ineligible during the audit had to be deducted from the total costs of their project, rather than from the Commission’s contribution.
