Belgium to spend €156m on inter-university poles

Belgian’s federal government will spend €156 million to continue a programme called “Inter-university Attraction Poles” in 2012-17.

This programme aims to fund networks for basic research, including at least four partners from both French-speaking and Dutch-speaking parts of the country. Set up in 1987, the programme has so far funded 44 networks, comprising 324 research teams and about 5,000 researchers.
