ERC promotes itself in South Africa

Donald Dingwell, secretary general of the European Research Council, is visiting South Africa to promote the council’s elite research grants.

The trip is part of a campaign called “ERC goes global” to attract top researchers from outside Europe. Since 2007, only 15 South African scientists have applied to get an ERC grant, and the ERC aims to increase that figure.
