Border-control computing agency launched
The European Commission has launched an EU agency to manage the large information systems used in border control. The agency will manage three computer systems: comparing the fingerprints of asylum seekers; consulting visa applications data, including biometrics; and exchanging data among nations about border crossings. The un-named agency will aim to “become a centre of excellence for the development and management of large-scale IT systems” related to security, the Commission said in a statement.
