DG Health lists resources for dealing with rare diseases

The European Commission’s directorate general for health and consumers has published a report analysing efforts across the EU to tackle rare medical disorders.

These are between 5,000 and 8,000 mainly hereditary conditions that affect less than 5 people per 10,000 of the population in member states. However, they can have a major effect on quality of life and they may affect between 6 and 8 per cent of the population at some stage in their lives.
