Commission transport tech funding goes East

The European Commission has allocated €22 million to road safety, environment and transport improvement projects in eastern neighbourhood countries.

The money will pay for cleaner transport technology implementation and safer road infrastructure in Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Belarus. The funding is part of the Commission’s Regional Action Programme 2012, which is supposed to help neighbourhood countries become more competitive through innovation, and raise living standards.
