ESF draws up marine microbiology roadmap

The European Science Foundation has issued a report highlighting gaps in knowledge about the marine microorganisms that, it says, play a vital role in maintaining the health of the planet. The ESF marine science board produced the report, Marine Microbial Diversity and its Role in Ecosystem Functioning and Environmental Change, to examine the main social and scientific questions that will drive the European research agenda in this area, and to provide a roadmap for future marine microbial research.
