Motorola plans cuts in non-US operations

US Mobile phone company Motorola Mobility is to cut 4,000 staff, with the majority of losses occurring outside of the United States, according to the New York Times.

The cuts come as part of a restructuring programme by parent company Google that will see 20 per cent of the work force laid off. Only one third of these losses will occur in the US, says the newspaper.
