Professors plead for simpler research system

A group of professors has written to Le Monde calling for dramatic simplification of France’s research system.

The group, which includes scientists from universities in Toulouse, Bordeaux, Rennes and Grenoble, says that research has become an “imbroglio” and that the number of research agencies must be reduced. There are too many bodies competing for resources and the role of universities in the system remains unclear, it says.
