Romanian economist takes vice-president post at EIB

Mihai Tanasescu, a Romanian economist, has been appointed vice-president of the European Investment Bank.

Tanasescu, an economist, is a previous finance minister for Romania and was chairman of the Romanian parliament’s budget and finance committee between 2004 and 2007. In 1997-2000 Tanasescu held a post as alternate executive director at the World Bank.

The EIB is a long-term lending institution under the wing of the EU, and is active in funding local developments and businesses to support economic growth.
