University of Zurich launches programmes on social issues

The University of Zurich in Switzerland has announced eight major research programs that will begin in 2013 to address societal issues including ageing, cancer and solar energy.

The University Research Priority Programs will each receive up to CHF3 million (€2.5m) per year for up to 12 years. They are designed to build on expertise already present at the university, with particular focus on supporting early career development of researchers.
