Protests at Madrid’s public universities

Students and representatives of teaching unions in Madrid have begun a protest in the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), La Vanguardia has reported.

The dismissal of 17 professors from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and tuition hikes have fuelled the protest, along with fears that there will be a 30% budget cut in the coming academic year, Union Secretary César Gallo told La Vanguardia.
