ERC applicants should take a “cold, hard look” at their chances, advises winner

Among the most prestigious mid-career awards in Europe, the European Research Council’s consolidator grants are for researchers of any nationality with between seven to 12 years’ experience since completing their PhDs.

Grants can be up to €2 million for a period of five years with an extra €1m available in specified situations where, for example, relocation from a third country to the EU or major equipment is required.
