French literature professor wins €100,000 prize

Antoine Compagnon, a professor of French literature, has been named as the third winner of the Lévi Strauss award.

The €100,000 prize was established by the government to recognise excellence in the humanities and social sciences, and was awarded for the first time in 2009.
