Concern over research funding priorities

More than 100 French scientists have signed a petition asking for funds awarded by the CNRS, the National Centre for Scientific Research, not to be restricted to projects that fall within government research priorities defined by Grand Emprunt, the “big borrowing fund”.

The Grand Emprunt has earmarked €21.9 billion in 2010-2030 for public and private research, and education.
