Government tightens squeeze on tobacco

The government has sent a letter to police, workplace inspectors and other officials reminding them of their responsibility in curbing young people’s exposure to tobacco.

It draws particular attention to the ban on the sale of products encouraging tobacco use, including cigarette-shaped sweets, and the establishment of protected areas near schools where tobacco must not be sold.
