Nuclear energy company doubles its investment

The French energy group, EDF, says it is doubling its investment to lengthen the lifespan of its nuclear plants beyond 40 years and increase their safety.

In its strategic plan for 2011-2015, published on 29 July, the company says it will invest between €3.4 billion and €3.6bn on its 58 nuclear reactors in 2015, up from €1.7bn invested in 2010.
