The French Senate is to debate a suggestion for the establishment of a scientific council to provide advice in emergencies on 21 November.
The idea was proposed in September by a group of senators led by Green Party member Marie-Christine Blandin. They argue that there is a mistrust of innovation in the wake of several health-related scandals in France and that a commission could help counteract the confusion that can arise in health and environmental emergencies.
