Public performance of the year goes to Fioraso

France's minister of higher education and research has been honoured for her role in launching France’s national platform for massive open online courses, FUN.

The prize for public performance of the year was awarded to Geneviève Fioraso on 4 December, more than a month before courses on the site are due to commence. The prize is administered by Acteurs Publics, an independent publication covering public policy in the country.

The launch of FUN was one of 18 actions on the digital agenda Fioraso introduced on 2 October to support the development of digital technology in higher education. Registration for the courses on FUN opened on 28 October, and close to 60,000 people signed up within five weeks.
