France and China launch innovation committee

The inaugural meeting of a Chinese-French committee on innovation and science has been held in France.

The group met for the first time on 27 March during an official Chinese state visit to France. Geneviève Fioraso, France’s minister of higher education and research, Arnaud Montebourg, France’s industry minister, and Wan Gang, China’s minister of science and technology, were all present.

The committee’s formation is part of a larger effort by the two countries to increase cooperation in research, innovation and higher education. During a French state visit to China in April 2013, 11 partnership agreements were signed, aimed at increasing research collaboration and bilateral student mobility.
