Union calls for lab staff to play a part in research evaluations

The researchers' trade union SNTRS-CGT has called for laboratory engineers and technicians to be involved in the evaluation of research and higher education.

In a statement on 17 February, the union said the independent French evaluation authority for public research and higher education HCERES should stop discriminating against laboratory staff, who are considered to have too technical a role to be involved in the evaluation process.

“They often are the only ones with information on the organisation and structure of research,” the union says.
