The National Assembly, France’s lower house, has passed the controversial digital republic bill that would allow French researchers to republish papers with open-access, six to 12 months after the original publication.
In a vote on 26 January, French MPs adopted the bill by 356 votes to one, with 187 abstentions, mostly from the centre-right opposition Republican party.
