The governments of France and the UK should establish joint funding schemes to engage big-data researchers in both countries, the the UK-France Data Innovation Taskforce has suggested.
The taskforce published Data Driven Growth: Innovation, Infrastructure, Skills and Empowerment in the Digital Age on 10 November. The document is an update from a report first published in July.
The report includes “possible actions” that the taskforce is urging national governments to follow in order to strengthen big-data collaboration between the UK and France. The actions repeat or build on 11 recommendations in the first report. The establishment of a UK-France Data Challenge Programme, which the report said would “bring UK and French organisations together using data to solve common problems”, was top of the list.
