Researchers intensify battle against Inra presidential nominee

A group of researchers has threatened legal action if the agriculture minister’s chief of staff, Philippe Mauguin, becomes president of Inra, France’s agricultural research organisation.

President François Hollande confirmed the nomination of Mauguin to be president of Inra in a statement on 4 July.

Mauguin was competing against Inra’s incumbent president, François Houllier, whose four-year term ends this month, for the nomination. Both men had appeared before an expert committee on 1 July before Hollande made his choice.
