Emmanuel Macron, the centrist candidate who will contest the second round of the French election against Marine Le Pen, has already set his sights on French parliamentary elections in June.
Macron and Le Pen, the Front National (FN) candidate, qualified for the final round of the French election, due on 7 May, after the first round vote on 23 April.
Macron, who left government a year ago to set up his own party En Marche!, won 24 per cent of first round votes, ahead of Le Pen, who fared slightly worse than was expected, winning 21.3 per cent of the vote.
