We need budget boost, universities tell Macron

The CPU, France’s association of university presidents, has urged president Emmanuel Macron to ensure that his ambitions for higher education and research are matched by a suitable funding settlement.

On 18 May, the CPU published a four-page report outlining its members’ greatest concerns for Macron’s presidency.

The report was front-loaded with a call for greater autonomy, which corresponds with Macron’s own plans to loosen government control over universities.
