The government has denied a second five-year term for the director of the Centrale Nantes grande école, after the abandonment of a project to collaborate more closely with the University of Nantes.
Frédérique Vidal, the minister for research and higher education, published a statement on 1 September saying that the government had refused to award Arnaud Poitou, who had led the engineering school since 2012, a second term. His reappointment had been recommended by the board of Centrale Nantes.
Vidal said that she had blocked Poitou’s reappointment because his proposed strategy for the school relied heavily on a planned collaboration with the University of Nantes, which was cancelled in July.
