SNCS in “total disagreement” with document outlining more competitive medical research

Moves to bring medical research into accord with market forces have met with stiff resistance from France’s research union.

France’s Syndicat National des Chercheurs Scientifiques (SNCS), the country’s national union for science researchers, has rejected plans for a shake-up of Inserm, the National Institute of Health and Medical Research. The workers’ body was in “total disagreement” with published future plans for Inserm, which would place more importance on publication records and bolster competition for funding.
