Working group created to develop quantum technologies policy
France needs a national policy on quantum science to guarantee its future sovereignty in the face of a coming revolution in information technologies, parliamentarians were told this week.
Paula Forteza, a member of president Emmanuel Macron’s liberal La République En Marche party, presented her report on quantum technologies to the National Assembly, France’s parliament. “It is urgent we act now for France if we want a place in the race,” she said, arguing that winning was not just a matter of economic rewards, there were also issues of national sovereignty, scientific effectiveness and military power.
