CNU downgrade and set teaching hours dropped, but controversial tenure track still on offer

France’s Council of Ministers will vote this week on a future multi-annual research programming plan—which has been shorn of some of its most controversial measures.

The multi-annual research programming plan (LPPR) was part of president Emmanuel Macron’s long-planned shake-up of higher education and research, but it has had a baptism of fire. One area expected to be dropped entirely is a reduction of the role the National Council of Universities (CNU) plays in career development.
