Vidal urges calm as academics prepare to down tools and go on strike
Frédérique Vidal, France’s minister for higher education and research, has taken to the pages of the press to defend the government’s controversial plans to reform research in the country.
In a strongly worded editorial published in Le Monde, Vidal said there was undue panic about the fact that the research policy plan was being published just as almost half of governing councils at French universities are up for renewal.
