Digital minister announces computing research programme to be funded with €1.8 billion of public-private money
France has announced a plan to plough €1.8 billion into developing its own cloud computing initiatives to reduce domination by US companies such as Amazon and Microsoft.
The total budget of the programme includes €667 million of public money, €680m in private co-financing, and €444m from the EU. The funds will be distributed under a combination of the fourth French Investments in the Future (PIA4) programme and the France Relaunch programme, which aims to boost post-Covid-19 economic recovery.
