French government starts consultation on research priorities

Research ministry calls for academic participation in shaping of multi-billion spending plan

French academics and researchers have been invited to share their opinions on research funding, to help shape the government’s funding priorities for the next five years.

The consultation concerns spending under part four of France’s Investments for the Future programme, known as PIA 4. Announced in October 2020 to boost research and innovation, Investment for the Future includes €11 billion—a 10 per cent share—from the funding gathered as part of France’s coronavirus recovery plan.
